A placement
test will be conducted to ensure you are studying at
the correct level. Post-elementary students would normally
have completed Survival Chinese Level 2 or around 60
hours of Chinese study. |

Chinese Level 1 or equivalent level
Course Description Essential vocabulary and phrases
necessary for day-to-day life in China are the primary
learning goals. The course builds on and expands on
vocabulary and grammar structures covered in Survival
Chinese Level 1 and introduces several new topics. The
Chinese phonetic transcription system (pinyin) is used
throughout the course. Course materials are in the form
of handouts containing vocabulary and sentence patterns
in pinyin, Chinese and English. Cultural and practical
information is provided in the form of handouts after
each session.
