A placement test will be conducted to ensure you are studying at the correct level. Post-elementary students would normally have completed Survival Chinese Level 2 or around 60 hours of Chinese study.
Course Description
Completion of Survival Chinese Level 1 or equivalent level
Course Description Essential vocabulary and phrases necessary for day-to-day life in China are the primary learning goals. The course builds on and expands on vocabulary and grammar structures covered in Survival Chinese Level 1 and introduces several new topics. The Chinese phonetic transcription system (pinyin) is used throughout the course. Course materials are in the form of handouts containing vocabulary and sentence patterns in pinyin, Chinese and English. Cultural and practical information is provided in the form of handouts after each session. (More info)

 

Course syllabus:

1. Welcoming friends. Showing politeness. Verb and verb phrases used as adverbs.
2. Entertaining friends at dinner at your house. Being a polite guest. Complement of degree.
3. Arranging meetings. Refusing invitations. Usage of particle “le”
4. Giving advice. Complaining. ”you dianr” as an adverbial adjunct.
5. Talking about weather. Comparison.
6. Talking about language skills. The expression 除了。。。以外。。。。”(besides)
7. Traveling, giving praise. Directional complement.
8. Checking in/out. Hotel formalities.
9. Health problems. “ba” sentences.
