Conversational Chinese

We've taken our students' practical needs into consideration, and have developed a new syllabus with a focus on conversational Chinese. As students show most progress learning the language which they can use in everyday situation after the classroom hours, all the topics included in different levels are designed to suit students of different language abilities. Grammar and Chinese characters will also be introduced in the learning process, helping students to understand better and speak better. By taking this untraditional route of learning Chinese, students will be able to get started to use Chinese in real life situation faster, and also lay a good foundation if students decide to develop abilities of reading and writing in the future.

Course Aim
Learn to deal with everyday situations and communicate in predictable situations with more effectiveness.
Entry Requirements
Completion of Survival Chinese or equivalent level
Course Description
The course uses an approach where spoken Chinese and Chinese character writing are taught separately. Teaching materials will mainly use Chinese pinyin and characters will be taught only as a supplementary tool. Learners will decide for themselves whether to learn them or not. Each text centers on a topic useful for daily communication. Carefully tailored grammatical explanations are presented systematically from the simple to the more difficult ones. (More info)

Course Aim

Completion of Elementary Conversational Chinese or equivalent level
Course Description
More challenging listening tasks will help to develop all round level of confidence and competence in understanding Chinese, and speaking Chinese. Chinese characters will be taught as a supplementary tool in this course. A larger everyday vocabulary will be introduced during each class session. Course Name

 Intermediate Conversational Chinese
Course Aim Gain more knowledge of grammar and characters. Able to converse on general topics and express opinions using more complicated sentence structures.
Entry Requirements Completion of Elementary Conversational Chinese or equivalent level
Course Description Conversational exercises teach participants to recount articles in a comparatively fluent and complete manner. Classes focus on increasing the level of grammar and vocabulary with the aim of enabling participants to express themselves functionally in different contexts. Practical situational texts are used to provide a greater awareness of Chinese culture and society.

Course Name

 Advanced Conversational Chinese
Course Aim Able to communicate in unpredictable situations with native expression.
Entry Requirements Completion of Intermediate Conversational Chinese or equivalent level
Course Description Introduce the most contemporary Chinese language. Consists of amusing dialogues, cross-balks and short plays, based on the daily lives, being easily understandable, and still full of language knowledge, cultures and local customs. Improve learner's speaking skills and enlarge vocabulary in everyday life, and understand Chinese culture and appreciate the sense of Chinese humour.
